So excited for James so not sure how much l will get done today but must tackle the snow and go to town sometime.....

CJ to do and post by the 14th and l'm going to try a doodled photo album combination of favourite photos from 2008 scrapbooking art journal and LO's...see what happens

WEEK 1 ART JOURNAL CHALLENGE 2009

As promised the gilded kitchen towel paper instuctions...hope you will have fun with this simple but effective paper....
Gilded Kitchen towel paper
1 Paint sheets of kitchen towel inks will give more vibrant colours but paint works just as well make the paper towel wet with paint and then squeeze and add as many creases as you can...crisper towels will give a better gilded effect smoother towels l usually print and stamp

2 Carefully open the wet paper towels out so they can dry but dont flatten the creases

3 The more creases the better but plainer sheets can be printed and stamped (examples to follow )

4 Gild paper with gilding paste on your finger or dry brush with gold paint...brings out all the creases in the paper and adds a lot of depth to papers

5 When the gilding/paint has dried finish off by ironing flat...use a warm iron not hot it burns the paper and makes it really fragile

6 Add iron-on interfacing if you want to stitch the paper gives a far stronger paper

7 Make into a hard cover by gluing to thick card ready to use the coptic sheet and christmas cards as the signatures (leaves of journal/album)

RECYCLING CHALLENGE FOR 2009

1st doodled pages...will gesso and cover each 'page' with art journaling quotes and memories information lists and daily thoughts......

INSPIRATION HIT ME YESTERDAY SO MADE A NEW AJ.....from all the paper rubbish l found l was throwing away....

ART JOURNAL AND ALTERED BOARD BOOK

Gessoed this double page after sanding most of the 'art work' off the board book...kids deserve better art so no problems with painting over this board book

Added one sheet of the old charity shop book that was falling apart still need to justify tearing up a book!! Added 3 punched snowflakes...why?...just because l like them and its almost christmas and some shocking pink...again l like pink

Will paint the thick bit today..trying a texture technique...thick PVA and l was covering up a mistake....plastering over the cracks maybe?.....why am l so frightened of this random messy look?
Well if nothing else it asks a lot of questions..maybe it will find the answers one day!!...fingers crossed

If you listen closely the page will tell you what it wants or needs!...i'm listening i'm listening......but why does it speak to me when l'm half asleep and still in bed with no way of remembering?

Felt like a new look today

Surrounded by trees and l love them too...doing the altered board book all about trees...first layers gone on but lots more to do...found this poem in the shape of a christmas tree too..aesthetically pleasing to the eye dont you think?

This one will be done with a circle punch and drawn trunk l think...got hundreds of circles punched already all neat n tidy in little colour pots

ART JOURNAL AND ALTERED BOARD BOOK

Well l've gone and done it...cut up a book to make a new altered board book...charity shop book for 25p and really tatty and a chewed up board book....almost finished covering it last night...not sure what l'll put in it yet but love it so far


Loved this....my paint mat where l was mixing and blending the paints..as taught by Dyan AftH...at the wkend....took a picture and will use this as a paper in the future

Played with the new Blonde Moments stamps to make a 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS art journal entry....oooops didn't get to the cards l should have made though!!..was having to much fun

Love these stamps...turning into a convert me thinks!

YESTERDAYS PLAYTIME

Few days ago l saw a RECYCLED NEWSPAPER JOURNAL...made by Dyan from Art From The Art(doing a wkend Christmas class with her end of November)
Dyan had seen it on a free video of Donna Downey..downloaded it but couldn't open it so did my own version....oh and l had a trip to Ikea too new unit decided l couldn't stand the mess!!! hehehe still to be sorted hopefully tomorrows photo will be the neat n tidy version....wish me luck





Oh and thanx for a great crop day girls...hope the back is better soon Jane and thanx for sharing the new snowflake die cut Lynne....and for ordering the dies l needed too....Sarah have a brill hol cya when you get back
