AT LONG LAST!!!!!!!!...DESIGNING A POMPOM RUG

Been giving it some thought over the last few days and came up with the idea of lots of punched circles in lots of colours and placing them in a design....
A more formal but simple design

....taken from the cross stitch design below
You could make a rug from any cross stitch or grid design...replace each stitch/square with a punched circle and then a pompom for the design

A simple strip like this one would work well in a pompom rug
Getting the design right before you start stitching them to the backing is easier in the long run
Below is a variation on the first cross stitch pattern..
another very simple design...
and a Picasa Collage of the cross stitch pattern as a repeat to make a large rug of small pompoms
I can see lots of simple cross stitch design that could be made into pompom rugs
can you?
Hows this for a great use of  cross stitch...
another variation...
from Bloesem
or may be a free Needlepoint Design like this would make a great pompom rug

Hugs to all x
