MORNING ALL....with a chuckle!

I'VE BEEN ASKED ON SEVERAL OCCASION WHY HOMES IN UK HAVE WASHERS IN THE KITCHEN?
Seems like the UK and its washers/dryers in kitchens and not in utility or laundry rooms has sparked off several conversation on the www hehehe.....
Not a subject l have ever really given THAT much thought too but when asked l did question WHY?
So l Googled the question....and....

I found this 8 page conversation and boy did it get nasty and heated at one point hehehehe...sooooo funny....
MY THOUGHTS ARE....
Small country...small houses and a tradition of drying washing on a line in the garden....just the way it is here l suppose...and we Brits love a good tradition hehe

BUT...
it has made me realise the huge range of options through out the world and if it isn't the way you are used too it may seem a bit strange hehehe
but all in all who really cares?....so long as your washing gets done!

MY IDEAL....
would be a house big enough for a big laundry room
this one looks good to me although why oh why would you want 3 machines?
and a table and stools?....may be that's for the maid to sit on!
hahahahaha...

CHILL OUT DAY TODAY FOR US
Have a thoughtful Thursday all
hugs xx

  3. When my US niece came to visit she hollered, "Hey Aunt Lynn your washer is in the kitchen - neat!" And of course our washing machines are much smaller than theirs and usually front loading which she thought very odd :) I think she thought my house was cute - lol!

  4. I'm an American and my washer and dryer are in my kitchen. AND I LOVE IT! I can cook and get laundry done all at the same time. And I use the kitchen table as a folding surface. Then I stack my boys clothes at their places and won't let them eat until they go put them away. Did I mention I'm a 'mean' mom?

  5. I live in the Netherlands. Not in a big house. And my washer and dryer are in the attic........

  6. My washer and drier are in a sort of "walk through" utility area off the kitchen. It does have doors so the noise can be shut out.
Would love a house with a laundry big enough for an airer and somewhere to do the ironing, oh and not being greedy, if it was big enough to double up as a (sewing) workroom, well that would indeed be perfection.

  9. We do have a separate utility room/cloakroom but only because we partitioned an area off sort of under the stairs when we were re-doing the house and moving the kitchen. I think most UK houses have the washer in the kitchen because a)it is where the water pipes are b) we have fairly small houses and c) our building regs don't like electrical equipment in bathrooms which is common place on the continent to have them.
